My Writing Journey

Hi everyone! Writing is something I have done my entire life — I can’t even put a date stamp on it because I’ve been telling stories since before elementary school. As you can see from above, however, I have quite a few hobbies besides writing. I love to read (of course!), sketch and paint, eat lots of different foods, travel, and play various video games (such as Legend of Zelda, Pokémon, Octopath Traveler, Tomb Raider, Destiny, etc.). I originally went to school for Music Therapy but quickly dropped that when I found out saxophone wasn’t a good fit in that field and switched my degree to Editing, Writing, and Media. I also used to belly dance in my university troupe.

My first written stories were cutsie, little picture books and journals about Link and Zelda, Ash and Pikachu, Sakura Kinomoto and Li Syaoran, and many other characters from shows, movies, and games I grew up with. Then I began writing “newspapers” about Bollywood actors, Teen Titans, and Star Wars with my siblings and cousins (we were true nerds — which I am proud of). Eventually, I wrote my first “novel” when I was eleven — and I quote that because it was only 17 pages and about 5 chapters. It was basically an R.L. Stine Fear Street book with a huge twist at the end (Prince Charming was EVIL!), and the writing was an embarrassing copy of my older sister’s story. By that, I mean my sister had two cruel step children in her story, so I obviously had to add that to mine, too!

In high school, I completed my first full-length novel about a magical academy, which clocked in around 345 pages in two composition notebooks and was overflowing with wicked twists. Since then, I’ve finished 7 full manuscripts and started countless others. It wasn’t until my last year of college that I realized I wanted to be a published author, which led me to write a horrible story, a semi-decent story, a better one, and finally my current YA Fantasy. You can read more about it here!

That’s all for now! Happy writing!
